Introduction of
Kiso Keizai Kagaku Kenkyusyo
Kiso Keizai Kagaku Kenkyusyo was
founded in 1968 as a cooperative association of university teachers, graduate
students, and workers committed to the study of political economy in Japanls
progressive tradition. Since then we have made efforts to train worker-scholars
based on Marxi "Capital" and creative development of political economy through
democratic joint research.
The motto of our movement is
establishment of the right to study while working. The task of our movement is
to clarify the origin of the contradictions occurring in our labor, life,
region, and reality of Japan and the world and to show conditions and
perspectives of every one's total development.
So far a
lot of workers who are engaged in indushial, public, educational, welfare,
medical, monetary, coops native, and various other occupational fields have
participated in the activities of our institute and evening graduate course and
grown as excellent worker-scholars. Despite severe labor conditions such as
surprisingly long working hours and rigid control, already more than sixty
workers have written papers for completion.
Keizai Kagaku Tsushin began as a mimeographed copy only for members and is now a quarterly journal
with more than 1500 subscribers. It occupies an important position in the
progressive study of Japan's political economy.
Our institute is an
independent, cooperative organization. We make it a rule to work without a pay
and we support our movement through the publication of Keizai Kagaku Tsushin,
and the management of our evening graduate courses. Revenue for our institute is
derived solely from member's fees, subscriptions, and
royalities.
